Project Summary
Stanley Kubrick, one of the twentieth century's most iconic Directors, inspired our creation of this passion project: a 'faux' promotional video for "Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition" at The Design Museum in 2019. Influenced by Kubrick's collaborations with renowned Graphic Designer Saul Bass, we developed a narrative uniting five of his iconic films: 'Spartacus,' '2001: A Space Odyssey,' 'A Clockwork Orange,' 'The Shining,' and 'Eyes Wide Shut.'
The narrative follows a character 'directing' the iconic artifacts of each film, culminating in a logo reveal referencing the infamous 'Redrum' scene from 'The Shining.' We created mood-boards, concept designs, a colour storyboard, and an animatic, timing the animation to an eerie interpretation of Kubrick's classic scores.
Our goal was to challenge ourselves to create a completely seamless sequence, without cuts, ensuring smooth transitions and clarity in pacing.
